Save the bees, trees on Central Coast!

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, and Wine, Waves and Beyond doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, check out Save the Trees, Save the Bees Weekend in Cambria! Arbor Day Festival takes place Saturday, April 30, and Bee Faire follows on Sunday, May 1. As your Central Coast real estate agent, allow me to fill you in on the details.

Arbor Day Festival

Arbor Day Festival for the Trees takes place at Cambria’s Greenspace Creekside Reserve on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. Stop by for live music by the Zen Mountain Poets from 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets cost $10 at the gate, but it’s free for those ages 14 and under. Bring your own chairs or blankets to enjoy the music!

There will also be a children’s art and haiku exhibit, where you can view artwork made by students from Santa Lucia Middle School sixth grade environmental educational field trips. Try your luck at the art and IndigoMoon dinner raffle, and purchase Monterey pine seedlings to go plant at your Central Coast home. It’s a family-friendly event and a great cause, so bring the whole family by for a relaxing afternoon of music and fun. Beverages and snacks will be available.

Bee Faire

Bee Faire takes place on Sunday at the Cambria Historical Museum, from noon to 4 p.m. There you can learn and shop for everything bees! Our native Central Coast bees, along with European honey bees, are a vital part of our ecosystem. This event is meant to raise awareness about the significance of keeping these bees alive, but in a fun, family-friendly environment.

Enjoy a day of educational speakers and demonstrations, along with bee-themed items available to purchase, such as jewelry, notecards and more. You can take a beeswax candle-making class, purchase pollinator-friendly plants, sample bee products and local honey, sample California mead, indulge in baked goods make with honey, taste exotic honeys from all over the world, meet America’s Honey Queen Kim Kester and more.

Enjoy your weekend here on the Central Coast, whether that means attending Wine, Waves and Beyond, one of these two festivals, or something entirely different! You’ve always got lots of options when it comes to having fun on the Central Coast.
