Go horseback riding in Monterey County

Are you taking a road trip this weekend for Thanksgiving? Do you have family or friends visiting you on the Central Coast for the holiday? Did you just move to the area, and this is your first long weekend to get out and explore? No matter what your Thanksgiving weekend plans are, the Los Angeles Times shared an excellent list of 21 pit stops to make in Monterey County.

Whether you’re visiting, you just moved here, or you’ve lived here forever, see how many of these stops you’ve made, and which stop on this list is your favorite! As your Monterey County real estate agent, I’m not going to share them all, but I am going to share some of my favorites from the list:

  • Big Sur River Inn – When passing through Big Sur, especially during the holidays, be sure to make a stop here. It is nestled on one of Big Sur’s original homesteads, founded in 1934, and it’s famous for its hot apple pie! Have a slice while enjoying the breathtaking views.
  • Carmel Mission – This is one of many missions on the Central Coast, and the second established by Franciscan padres in California. It is a National Historic Landmark and still an active place of worship. Stop for a service or just for a tour and photos. Soledad Mission was also included on the list!
  • Monterey Bay Equestrian Center – What better way to tour the Central Coast than on horseback? Saddle up and ride along the beach from this seaside stable. This is a great place to bring visitors, or a great activity for longtime natives if they’ve never been!
  • Pinnacles National Park – Walk or jog some of your turkey meal off this weekend while enjoying wild rock formations and topography. This park is a habitat for endangered California condor, so maybe bring a pair of binoculars and do some sightseeing while you walk.
  • River Road Wineries – We all know that wineries abound on the Central Coast! This LA Times article recommended River Road Wineries, which stretch along the western edge of Salinas Valley between Greenfield and Salinas. Enjoy wines from Hahn, Pessagno, Paraiso and more.
  • Earthbound Farm Stand – This landmark in Carmel Valley began as a raspberry farm and is now one of California’s main organic food pioneers. After indulging in Thanksgiving food, stop by the café to enjoy an organic salad, smoothie or another healthy option served here.

Check out the rest of the LA Times article for more road trip pit stops in Monterey County this weekend, or anytime! The Central Coast is vast and has tons of options for fun for the whole family.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday, and when ready to accomplish your Central Coast real estate market goals, contact me, your Central Coast real estate agent! I am here and ready to help you.
