Community Spotlight: Atascadero, CA

Atascadero Attractions
Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero

As your Central Coast real estate agent, I want to help you get to know the different communities within the Central Coast region that I work in.  I recently spotlighted Pacific Grove and Salinas, as I work in both Monterey County and San Luis Obispo County. Today, I’d like to spotlight Atascadero, located in SLO County.

Atascadero is located off Highway 101 and is about equal distance between San Francisco and Los Angeles. There is tons to do in the Atascadero area! In fact, the city of Atascadero created a Recreation Guide for spring 2017 that is stocked full of ideas.

Events coming up in Atascadero include Dancing with our Stars March 23-25 at Pavilion on the Lake, Monster Skate Series, Children’s Day in the Park on April 22 at Atascadero Lake Park, and Lake Fest on May 20 at Atascadero Lake Park.

Charles Paddock Zoo is one of Atascadero’s most renowned attractions, and it has a full calendar of its own! Coming up is the Spring Festival April 9-23, the 10th Annual Conservation Celebration April 15, Brew at the Zoo April 29, and Cookie Adventure May 14.

However, a visit to Charles Paddock Zoo any day of the week will entertain you for hours. Check out the new Madagascar Exhibit with rare and endangered species from all over the world, the lively meerkats, the remodeled bird aviary, and the upcoming new red panda exhibit!

Plenty of arts and crafts classes are available for kids in the area, such as learning to paint with watercolors, multimedia workshops, making and publishing comic books, crafting wire-wrapped jewelry and more.

There are also dance classes available for every age and style, theater classes, horseback riding classes, sports teams and ongoing events and activities taking place at the Atascadero Library. Check out the Atascadero Recreation Guide for all the details!

If you want to put together your own day of adventure in Atascadero, check out the plethora of parks and trails! For hiking and biking, there is the new Three Bridges Trailhead project, Stadium Park, Juan Bautista de Anza, Cerro Alto, Atascadero Lake and many more. From leisurely strolls to strenuous hikes, there is a trail for everyone.

Of course, Atascadero wouldn’t be a Central Coast town without a golf course, wine tasting opportunities, art galleries and delicious food at local restaurants.

Atascadero, CA is a wonderful place to call home for new and growing families, and for retirees and vacationers. The constant lineup of community events and activities gives it a small-town feel, while a never-ending strip of beach towns and vineyards reside right outside the town borders.

Want to make Atascadero home, or need help choosing which Central Coast community to relocate to? Contact me, your SLO County real estate agent! Let me help you accomplish your Central Coast real estate market dreams this season.
