Central Coast Spotlight: Pacific Grove

Pacific Grove
Pacific Grove, CA Attractions

Here in the Central Coast region of California, there are so many communities to choose from! As a Central Coast real estate agent, I feel blessed to help clients in each one. As a Central Coast homebuyer, however, you might feel baffled on which community to buy in. I want to help you out, by helping you get to know each community, and to understand what each has to offer.

Today, I’d like to share some information on Pacific Grove. A family-friendly blog, called Marin Mommies, recently shared what an excellent family road trip they had in Pacific Grove, along with where to go for family-friendly fun. As a Monterey County real estate agent, I find that Pacific Grove makes a wonderful permanent home for families as well!

Because Pacific Grove isn’t as well-known as its Monterey neighbor, it is known for taglines such as “America’s Last Hometown” and “Butterfly Town USA.” But the community has a surprising number of attractions and activities to enjoy!

Here are a few to be aware of:

  • Asilomar State Beach – This natural wonder faces the Pacific Ocean and features a gorgeous white sand beach, tide pools and miles of walking paths.
  • Lover’s Point Park – This resides on the north side of town and features a beach much calmer than Monterey Bay, a snack bar, a kiddie pool, recreational facilities and more.
  • Downtown Pacific Grove – This area of town is cute, bustling and historic. You’ll find plenty of small-town community events taking place here, along with local businesses to shop and dine at.
  • Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary – Pacific Grove is home to more than 25,000 Monarch butterflies in the fall and winter, and you can enjoy free admission and tons of butterfly viewing at the sanctuary.
  • Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History – Once you make Pacific Grove your home, learn about the area’s local plants, animals, geology and native peoples. There are hands-on exhibits for kids as well.
  • Point Pinos Lighthouse – This is the oldest operating lighthouse on the West Coast! It was built in 1855 and still functions today. Plenty of events and activities take place here throughout the year.

With Monterey right next door, you can enjoy all of the attractions and activities located there, just minutes away, without dealing with the daily tourist bustle as a resident.

The Marin Mommies blog also shared some of their favorite family-friendly dining spots in Pacific Grove. Their favorite is Toasties Café in downtown Pacific Grove, which has delicious breakfast and lunch, toys to keep kids occupied while waiting for food, and a park and playground right around the corner.

Other restaurants mentioned were the Little Chicken House, Peppers Mexicali Café, Allioti’s Victorian Corner Restaurant and Michael’s Grill & Taqueria.

Pacific Grove is a great place to call home! As a Monterey County resident, what do you love most about Pacific Grove? Leave a comment and share!
