Halloween Events in SLO County

As your Central California real estate agent, I recently shared a list of Halloween events taking place this year in Monterey County. Today, I’d like to share a list of Halloween events taking place in SLO County. Grab your calendar and jot down the events that sound most fun for you. Grab the whole family, because they are all suitable for kids as well!

  • Cambria Scarecrow Festival is taking place throughout the month of October. Grab a map of scarecrow locations at the Cambria Chamber of Commerce, or print one out online, and walk around viewing all the creations and choosing your favorite. You can even scan the QR code on each scarecrow to learn more about it. The theme this year was “A Magical Place.”
  • This Saturday, Oct. 24, head to Zoo Boo at Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero! Put on your costumes, bring your trick-or-treat bags and carve a vegetable to be entered into the vegetable carving contest. Admission is regular zoo admission for $10, and this special event takes place from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Also this Saturday is Pumpkins on the Pier at Pismo Pier! Bring the kids down for a plethora of Halloween-themed activities, including pumpkin decorating, costume contests, games, crafts, bounce houses and trick-or-treating at area businesses. There are costume contests for kids and adults, so everyone should come dressed up! The first 600 people to arrive receive a free pumpkin.
  • Head to the San Luis Obispo farmer’s market on Oct. 29 for Halloween Festivities! Participate in the Halloween Costume Contest for great prizes, and go trick-or-treating at participating businesses. Trick-or-treating takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. and bags and maps are provided.
  • On Oct. 30, head to Grover Beach for a Carved Pumpkin Contest & Halloween Activities! Local businesses will be giving out great prizes for the best carved pumpkins, so bring yours along and show it off. There will also be carnival games and free hot dogs! This runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ramona Garden Park and is free to attend.
  • Paso Robles hosts its Safe & Fun Halloween on Oct. 31! Kids can go trick-or-treating at downtown businesses from 4 to 7 p.m. They can also bring their carved pumpkin for the pumpkin carving contest. Bring a camera to take pictures with witches, expect to eat some delicious barbecue and enjoy live performances!
  • Kids can also go trick-or-treating in Morro Bay on Halloween! From 2 to 5 p.m., bring the kids trick-or-treating at downtown Morro Bay retailers. There will be a costume contest and a parade as well. The parade begins at 4 p.m. and runs from Main Street to Market on Morro Bay Boulevard.
