The latest update on the Chimney Fire is that it is 46,344 acres and 91 percent contained. This is amazing news! Just 9 percent to go before it is 100 percent contained and our lives can return to normal. We continue to pray for containment, for the safety of firefighters and first responders, and for all those who lost their homes or possessions.
We’d like to invite you to the Oak Shores Community this Sunday, Sept. 4, to show our appreciation to all of the heroes who helped fight this beast of a fire. We are inviting all of our South Shore and North Shore neighbors to join us, including Christmas Cove and Bryson Hesperia.
First responders and firefighters will be special guests! The celebration will take place from 5 to 10 p.m., with dinner taking place from 6 to 7 p.m. We will be serving tri-tip, King City pink beans, salad, bread and root beer floats. Coast is $15 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Soundhouse will be supplying live music and Glitter Glam will provide free face painting for the children!
Please do not bring outside coolers, as this is a fundraiser to support our community. All proceeds will be donated to OSCA Firewise to contribute to cleaning up trees and vegetation in Oak Shores.

As a reminder, please drive slowly and with caution around the Lake Nacimiento and Chimney Fire areas. As CAL FIRE explained, traffic is higher than usual in these areas right now. Plan ahead when driving and be courteous of other drivers and of firefighters working in the area.
