Monterey County Wine Excursions

Do you have guests coming to stay with you this holiday season? If you’re not sure what to do with them while they’re in town, take them on a wine country excursion in Monterey County! While most people think of Paso Robles as the heart of Central Coast Wine Country, both Monterey County and SLO County are filled with wineries and vineyards worth checking out.

In Monterey County alone, there are more than 43,000 acres of vineyards with over 53 varietals of wine. As your Monterey County real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on where to take holiday guests this season, with some helpful tips from See Monterey.

Here are three different towns that See Monterey recommends visiting for a day of wine tasting, along with where to go and what to drink:

Carmel-by-the-Sea

Carmel-by-the-Sea makes wine tasting easy with their Wine Tasting Passport! For $65 per person, you can take a self-guided tour of the tasting rooms in town, complete with wine flight at any nine of the 14 participating venues. There are more than 15 tasting rooms total in town! When you decide on a bottle to purchase, you can walk right down to Carmel Beach and enjoy sipping it while walking or resting on the white sands.

Carmel Valley

Get a ride on MST’s Grapevine Express for only $5, which will take you into Carmel Valley from Monterey without you having to assign a designated driver! Once there, you can work your way through the plethora of tasting rooms in Carmel Valley Village. They are all a short walking distance from each other. See Monterey recommends Cima Collina for their beautiful outdoor patio, and Talbott Vineyards for their vintage motorcycle collection on display.

Salinas Valley

With a short drive down Highway 68, you’ll find River Road, which is home to some of the most fertile land in the world. Stop at some of the wineries nestled in these Central Coast rolling hills. See Monterey recommends booking a tour with Ag Venture Tours to get a sneak peek at the wine-making process, or to stop at Chalone Vineyards, located at the mouth of Pinnacles National Park. This is home to the oldest grape vines in Monterey County, and they have barrel tastings and wine caves to explore.

Bring your holiday guests on of these wine excursions in Monterey County, or one in SLO County and Paso Robles, and they’ll never forget their experience! Read more helpful tips in the See Monterey article.

When your holiday guests decide to relocate to the Central Coast region, you can send them my way for relocation and home-buying assistance!
