Ice Cream Zoofari in Central California

As your Central California real estate agent, I like to keep you updated on major events coming up in the Central California area, such as the California Rodeo Salinas beginning July 16, and the California Mid State Fair starting on July 22. But aside from major events like these, there are also tons of smaller events and activities taking place all over the region as well.

Here is just a handful of events to be aware of in the coming weeks:

1.  This Saturday, July 18, head to Charles Paddock Zoo for an Ice Cream Zoofari! It takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and admission costs $12 for adults and $8 for kids, with $2 off for zoo members. Enjoy viewing the zoo animals at night while indulging in all-you-can-eat ice cream, popsicles, sundaes, toppings and root beer floats. Sugar-free and dairy-free options are available as well!

2.  Saturday, July 25, Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve present the 15th Annual Great Kitchens of Cambria Self-Guided Tour & Traveling Luncheon! It’s an epic progressive feast of small plates, wine and beer as you visit six unique kitchens. It takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and reservations cost $40.

3.  Pacific Grove’s Feast of Lanterns is coming up July 22 through July 26! This annual celebration includes a lantern pageant, children’s activities and a pet parade. On July 22, enjoy refreshments, live entertainment and cake at Chautauqua Hall. July 23, celebrate “Feast of Flavors,” featuring dishes from local restaurants in buffet style. July 24 is the pet parade and Feast of Dancing, July 25 is Pageant Day at Lover’s Point Beach, and July 26 concludes with the Feast of Lanterns Festival.

4.  Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival takes place Aug. 1 and 2 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. This festival brings music, dance and athletic events from Scotland and Ireland to Monterey County. There will be pipe bands, drum majors and individuals competing in musical categories, along with athletes from around the world competing in numerous games. Tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 at the gate.

5.  You have until Sept. 7 to the see the Jellies Experience exhibit at Monterey Aquarium. If you haven’t yet seen this, take a drive to Monterey and check it out! In this exhibit, you can watch as jellyfish gracefully float before you in the water, glowing in the darkness. Jelly varieties include flower hat jelly, blubber jelly, elegant jelly, spotted jelly, Mediterranean jelly and crown jelly. It’s definitely a sight to see!
