Why to Spend the Holidays in SLO County!

SLO County Real Estate
SLO County for the Holidays

Do you travel for the holidays, or do you stay home in SLO County? As a Central California real estate agent, I love spending the holiday season in my hometown here in Central California!

I’m not alone, either. Nassau News Live just recently shared 10 reasons to spend the holidays in SLO County on California’s Central Coast. Here’s a summary of some of their reasons:

  • SLO County is exactly how it sounds. Slow. Communities here rank among the happiest in America. Paso Robles was just named one of America’s favorite towns. Life unfolds at a slower, more peaceful pace here in Central California. Located between California’s large cities, here, it’s all about wine trails, spectacular views, small-town community activities, fine dining and more. It’s off the grid, but still right along California’s Highway 1. It’s great for reconnecting with family and friends during the holidays, away from the city bustle.
  • SLO County is one-of-a-kind. There is truly nowhere else in the country that compares to Central California. We’ve got Hearst Castle, which is a main attraction year-round, but it’s a wondrous sight the entire month of December. Every single hall is lavishly decorated for the holidays. Holiday performances take place, including a one-act version of A Christmas Carol. A musical celebration will take place Dec. 12. If you’ve never visited Hearst Castle during the holidays, consider it this year!
  • SLO County has plenty to do. Just because the pace is slower here doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to do for the holidays besides a visit to Hearst Castle. Every town in Central California hosts some sort of holiday festivity. You can catch a theatrical performance, like The Nutcracker at San Luis Obispo Performing Arts Center, or A Christmas Story at SLO Little Theatre. There are also a slew of parades, tree lighting ceremonies, Santa sightings, old-fashioned celebrations and more.
  • SLO County is active. Since the weather is beautiful year-round here in Central California, you don’t have to hide out inside to celebrate the holidays. Central California has its Reindeer Run 5k Run/Walk at Mitchell Park, where runners can wear holiday costumes and enjoy pancakes with Santa. You can ice skate under the warm California sun at Madonna Inn from Dec. 19 to Jan. 4. You can also ice skate, and play in 50 tons of fresh snow, in Downtown Atascadero on Dec. 12!

As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to spend your holiday season here in SLO County. Slow down, spend quality time with your friends or family, and enjoy old-fashioned fun.
