SLO County Halloween Events

As your Central California real estate agent, I want to know that local residents are enjoying all the local events and activities offered here in Central California. A couple days ago, I shared Halloween events coming up in Monterey County. Today, I’d like to fill you in on Halloween events coming up in San Luis Obispo County! Mark your calendars for the ones that interest you most.

1.  This Friday, Oct. 24, bring the whole family to Meadow Park in San Luis Obispo for Munchkin March! Beginning at 5 p.m., this event features a costume parade, photo booth, a silent auction, an outdoor movie and more. Cost is free, but participants are encouraged to bring a donation for the Food Bank Coalition.

2.  This Saturday, Oct. 25, bring the whole family to Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero for Halloween Zoo Boo! From 5 to 8:30 p.m., you can enjoy carnival games, Halloween activities, trick-or-treating and more. Wear your costumes and visit with the zoo animals while you’re there! Bring your own reusable trick-or-treating bags. This event is included with regular zoo admission.

3.  Also on Oct. 25 is the 6th Annual Pismo Beach Veterinary Clinic Pet Costume Contest! Dress your pets in costumes and bring them to the clinic to play with other pets and to see who wins in the costume contest. Categories include pet duo, human and pet duo, canine costume, feline costume and exotic pet costume.  This takes place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

4.  While not necessarily Halloween related, Paso Robles is hosting its 1st Annual Golden Oak Honey Festival this Saturday, Oct. 25, form 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Downtown City Park! Enjoy the beautiful fall colors of the oaks while shopping among antiques, collectibles, arts and crafts. There will be plenty of honey sampling, food, honey beer and wine, beekeeping seminars and more. Admission is free!

5.  From Oct. 25 to Oct. 31, visit the Point San Luis Lighthouse in Avila Beach. This year-round attraction turns into a Haunted Lighthouse this time of year and was deemed the scariest haunted house on the Central Coast. There are also haunted trolley tours happening this Saturday and next Wednesday, Oct. 29. On Oct. 31, you can attend “Monster Mash Murders,” which features a gruesome dinner with Alapay Cellars.

6.  On Halloween, dress your kids up in their costumes and bring them downtown Paso Robles for safe trick-or-treating at local businesses! This will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Also, if you carved a pumpkin this year, bring it with. There will be rewards for best carved pumpkins! Kids can also take photos with real live (costumed) witches.
