Halloween Events in Monterey County

We’re more than halfway through October here in Central California, which means Halloween is quickly approaching. As your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on some of the fun and family-friendly holiday happenings coming up in Monterey County. Prepare the costumes and mark your calendars for some spooktacular festive fun!

1.  This Saturday, Oct. 25, is the 3rd Annual Downtown PG Trick-or-Treating Extravaganza in Pacific Grove! From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., your costumed kids can trick-or-treat at participating Pacific Grove businesses along Lighthouse Avenue. Just look for the Halloween ribbons and pumpkins outside to let you know who is participating. There will also be live music, entertainment and lots of other treats throughout the day.

2.  While you’re in Pacific Grove on Saturday, stop by the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History for Science Saturday! This event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include lots of spiders, snakes and other creepy creatures. Kids can hold a snake, view live spiders, make a spider web and other crafts, trick-or-treat around the museum and more. This event is free!

3.  Carmel-by-the-Sea was incorporated on Halloween, but they are celebrating their birthday this Saturday. Enjoy a Halloween Parade down Ocean Avenue at 11 a.m., which you can either participate in or spectate. Costumed kids, adults and pets are welcome! Afterward, head to Sunset Center for hot dogs, chili, ice cream and birthday cake. The parade is free to attend, and the party afterward costs $5.

3.  Enjoy some spooky theater this Halloween at the Monterey Peninsula College Theatre, where “Dracula” will be performed Oct. 30 through Nov. 9! William McNulty’s adaptation of the classic tale of Dracula is a bit darker and sexier that you remember it. Catch a show Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. or Sundays at 2 p.m.

4.  On Halloween, bring the kids to Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey for Pumpkin Pandemonium! From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., kids can show off their costumes and trick-or-treat at the shops. Over 28,000 pieces of candy were ordered for this event, so kids are sure to get their fill. Free pumpkins are available from the pumpkin patch as well, while supplies last.

5.  For adults who love to dress up in costume, head to Wave Street Studios on Halloween night for the Halloween Catwalk Costume & Dance Party! This takes place from 7 p.m. to midnight and will feature dancing, local wines, craft beers and a costume contest. Cost is $25 to attend.
