Swim – Kids love to swim and Lake Naci provides them a giant lake to do so! They can walk in at their own pace from the shore, jump in from a dock, or jump in from a boat. Just make sure everyone is wearing a life jacket and staying close to shore or the boat, so other boaters can see them. If you live in a community, such as Oak Shores, there is also a swimming pool to enjoy.
Water Sports – Whether your kids are new to water sports, or already pros, the summer season sees plenty of people of all ages trying their luck at water sports. Mornings and late afternoons provide calm waters for water skiing, wakeboarding, wake surfing, tubing and more. Bring your own or rent them at the Marina. For a more casual day, try paddle boarding or kayaking around the lake.
Fishing – We’ve already seen lots of great fishing photos on our Lake Nacimiento Facebook page this spring season! You can take your own boat out or rent a power boat, pontoon boat, kayak, etc. for a great fishing experience. Lake Nacimiento is known for its white bass, along with carp, catfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and more. Head out early in the morning or in late afternoon.
Wildlife – Let your kids exert some energy while walking and running around the hills, forests and shorelines that surround Lake Nacimiento. While you do, you may spot wildlife as well! Keep track of what you see. Common creatures include deer, raccoons, turkeys, badgers, eagles, peacocks and more. Keep a look out for paw prints and other traces of wildlife, too. Make it a scavenger hunt!
Horseback Riding – This is a great local activity for kids and families to enjoy! One great option is the Work Family Guest Ranch in San Miguel. Each of your family members can enjoy a ride that lasts an hour and a half. Kids must be eight years old to ride. Call to make reservations, rides take place Monday through Saturday!
Play Outside – If you live right on Lake Nacimiento, you can bring any indoor activity outdoors to enjoy the fresh air and lake views. Enjoy a lunch picnic outside, bring out coloring materials and draw pictures of the lake, play hide-and-seek near the house… the options of endless.
