This spring, fishing is on the mind of many, as spring is one of the most popular seasons for fishing at Lake Nacimiento! Naci is the only lake in California stocked with white bass, and spring and fall are the best seasons for white bass fishing. The white bass are said to favor the main channel of Lake Nacimiento between the marina and Bee Rock, the narrows, Oak Shores, Town Creek, Las Tablas Creek and all the way up the Nacimiento River. You can also find largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill and crappie, carp and catfish. We’ve already been seeing lots of great fishing photos posted on our Facebook page!
Lake Naci homeowners and visitors will also be heading back out on their boats this spring, as the water levels are high again! It’ll be a great season for boating, swimming and water sports. It’s always fun when boaters reunite on the waters while cruising the channels. In the meantime, get your boating license and get your boat checked for mussels before launching. A Mussel Awareness Class will take place April 6 at Oak Shores!
You can always get out and enjoy the fresh air. Locals love taking walks and bike rides along Lake Nacimiento, and we love seeing videos of happy lake dogs running around near the lake and in the water! You could also pack a picnic to enjoy near the water, or if you own a lakefront home, head onto your deck or patio anytime you wish with a coffee or glass of wine, and enjoy the beautiful lake views. A recent Time article named all the health benefits you receive just by spending time outdoors. They’re numerous!
