Get To Know Boutique Wineries in Paso Robles

Paso Robles Wine
Boutique Paso Robles Wineries

If you are hosting Thanksgiving dinner at your Central California home this Thursday, chances are, you’re trying to decide which local wines to serve with dinner. As your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to introduce you to four boutique wineries in the area, which are small on production, but big on flavor!

These four Paso Robles wineries are known for their hands-on winemaking, attention to detail and high levels of flavor, quality and character. If you visit the tasting room, you’ll most likely run into the winemaker/owner there! These are quaint, local, hand-crafted wines that are rare and unique, and worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Michael Gill Cellars – This winery is located on Paso’s west side, with perfect conditions for growing a range of Rhone varietals. The tasting room is decked out in bygone treasures, inspired by famous French hunting lodges.

Paso Robles Wineries recommends the 2013 Michael Gill Cellars Oso Blanco Vermentino. This wine won double gold at the 2015 Florida State International Wine Competition!

Lusso Della Terra –These Italian wines were created with the small lot, high quality mentality. Their tasting room is located right downtown Paso Robles, with plush leather chairs and wines produced with top-shelf fruit from Paso Robles and Sonoma regions.

Paso Robles Wineries recommends the 2011 Lusso Della Terra Sangiovese, a Central Coast Wine Competition Gold Medal winner. It’s a dark cherry red, with chocolate, malt, spice and plum notes.

Hug Cellars – This winery was handed over by the retired founders to Edgar Torres of Bodega de Edgar. These wines range from Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir to Paso Robles-grown Mourvedre. The tasting room is located off 46 East, where you can sip on these artfully crafted creations.

Paso Robles Wineries recommends Hug Cellars’ 2011 Derbyshire San Luis Obispo Pinot Noir. This is a reflection of San Simeon-grown grapes, with notes of strawberry and rounded tannins.

Hammersky Vineyards – This west-side winery creates limited productions of Bordeaux wines. You can visit their tasting room, located on their 100-plus-year-old estate. Its purposeful low yields create small lot wines rich and true to character.

Paso Robles Wineries recommends the silky Hammersky Vineyards 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, which comes from selected estate fruit with flavors of black raspberry, cinnamon and earth.

Which of these small boutique wines from Paso Robles do you think you’ll serve at your Thanksgiving meal? Which will you save for a special occasion? To learn more, read this Paso Robles Wineries article in its entirety.
