Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and immediately following, winter holiday festivities! As your Central California real estate agent, allow me to transition you from one holiday to the next with this list of holiday happenings in Monterey County. Some take place right after Thanksgiving ends, so mark your calendar and make a weekend of it!
1. The Cannery Row Tree Lighting takes place this Friday, Nov. 27, beginning at 5 p.m. Santa sleighs in and kids can enjoy taking a photo with him, balloon artists, Christmas carolers and reindeer. Santa flips the switch on the 25-foot tree at 6 p.m.
2. Salinas Holiday Parade of Lights takes place this Sunday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. Enjoy watching marching bands, holiday floats, dancers and classic cars breeze by during the parade, which goes up South Main Street and through Oldtown to the National Steinbeck Center. Get there early for a good spot!
3. Christmas at the Inns takes place Dec. 1 and 2 in Pacific Grove, from 6 to 9 p.m. Each night, several different inns and bed and breakfasts open their doors and welcome guests with live entertainment, snacks and holiday décor. Admission is $20 and tickets are limited, so get yours soon!
4. Salinas transforms into the Streets of Bethlehem from Dec. 2 to Dec. 5. Head there between 6 and 8 p.m. for a truly immersive experience, with more than 200 actors, animals and music groups. They all come together to recreate the scene of Jesus’ birth during these four days.
5. Santa’s Live Reindeer will be in Downtown Monterey on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 12 to 4 p.m.! Bring the whole family by to visit with Santa and two of his reindeer under the Golden State Theatre. You can enjoy treats, take photos and then get some of your holiday shopping done in Old Monterey.
