Avila Apple Festival

Apple season is in its prime right now, which is why Avila Apple Festival is coming up this weekend! As your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on the details of this family-friendly festival. There is always so much to do here in Central California, and the fun continues into October.

Today is the last day that you can purchase tickets to the “Meet the Growers” Farm to Table Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Avila Valley Barn. Tickets cost $75 per person and can be purchased online, at Avila Valley Barn, or at the Avila Beach Civic Association Office.

At the Farm to Table Dinner, you can enjoy a dinner catered by local Chef Jesse Smith, who is the chef at Avila Valley Barn’s Farmhouse Deli! Enjoy your meal under a canopy of lights, located inside a secret orchard at Avila Valley Barn. Begin the evening with a hayride, enjoy fresh ciders and apple wines, chat with local growers, watch a demonstration and a short film, and enjoy an apple-themed dinner.

You certainly will feel full after enjoying this extensive menu! It includes apple cider marinated chicken with apple influenced sauces, cider brined and apple wood smoked pork loin, homegrown vegetable medley wrapped in a puff pastry, arugula salad, appetizers, apple cobbler dessert and much more!

The Farm to Table Dinner will also include music by Hillary & Kate, and a special guest. A silent auction will be held, including prizes like rounds of golf, hotel stays, surf lessons, gift baskets, spa packages, wine cases, restaurant certificates and more. Proceeds go to Avila-based nonprofits.

Then on Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. at Avila Promenade/Plaza, enjoy the “It’s Everything Apple” Vendor Fair! Admission is free and includes apple grower booths, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, food booths, live music and more. Wear your dancing boots too, because local favorites, See Canyon Ramblers and Bobby Santa Cruz, will be rocking the Promenade.

There is an apple pie baking contest, a kids’ apple pie eating contest, an apple juggling contest for kids and adults, and a kids’ caramel apple licking contest. If you’d like to join the apple pie baking contest, register online. For all other contests, you can register the day of for $1 per contestant.
