Don’t let a summer weekend go by without getting out and enjoying all that Central California has to offer! As your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on some of the events and activities taking place this coming weekend. Mark them in your calendar, gather your family, call your friends, and start having fun!
1. If you’re ready for some physical activity after a long work week, join the free invigorating hike through the Natural Dunes Preserve. These hikes take place every Friday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. during the month of August. Preservation management members will discuss the natural habitats along the way. You’ll meet at the Flag Pole next to the Hearst Social Hall deck, and the hike finishes at the Asilomar State Beach Coast Trail. No registration is necessary.
2. Saturday, Aug. 15, is the Annual Olive Festival in Paso Robles! The celebration begins Friday night with a Pre-Olive Festival Mixer at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort. Then on Saturday, enjoy olive oil tastings, olive oil ice cream samples, oils to purchase, soaps made from olive oil, gourmet foods and more. There will also be arts and crafts, beer and wine tastings and more. It takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown City Park.
3. The Paso Robles Rotary will host the 17th Annual Paso Robles Winemakers’ Cookoff on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Paso Robles Event Center! Tickets cost $85 and are limited to 1,200 attendees, so don’t wait to purchase yours. The event will include delicious food dishes paired with local wine or beer. Proceeds benefit local high school scholarships.
4. Every Saturday evening, Atascadero hosts a free outdoor movie at Sunken Gardens. Bring the family, along with chairs or blankets, and be ready for the movie to begin around 8 p.m. This weekend’s movie is Planes: Fire and Rescue. St. Luke’s Church will be providing concession sales. On Aug. 22, the movie will be Cinderella.
5. Enjoy Monterey Car Week, taking place all this week, through Aug. 16! Classic cars take over the Monterey Peninsula, so this is an event that car enthusiasts should definitely consider checking out. Friday night, watch as over 200 cars cruise the streets of Pacific Grove, beginning at 6 p.m. It’s free! Then Sunday is the main Concours d’Elegance event, where the finest 200 classic cars will be showcased on Pebble Beach Golf Links.
6. If you love oldies music, you’ll love attending a Buddy, Elvis and the Gang Tribute Concert! These take place each weekend in August at the Golden Bough Playhouse, with tickets costing between $8 and $42. Travis Poelle returns as icon Buddy Holly, to perform hits by Buddy, Elvis, Little Richard and more, and also 1960s favorites by Simon & Garfunkle, Bob Dylan and The Mamas and Papas.
