Now that it’s October in the Central Coast region, there are a whole slew of new events coming up in the area! Pull your calendar out and start filling it up with local events and activities in Monterey County. As your Monterey County real estate agent, I make it easy for you to plan by listing all of the best upcoming events in one blog post.
Here’s what’s coming up:
1. The Taste of Carmel is on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. Head to the historic Carmel Mission Courtyard to sample local cuisine and to sip on local Monterey County wines. The Money Band will play live music for dancing and singing along. Bid on local restaurant and boutique specials in the silent auction. It’s a night full of delicious food and great fun.
2. One of the country’s longest running auto racing series, the Pirelli World Challenge Championships, will crown a 2016 champion at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca at the series finale. It runs at the Raceway in Salinas from Oct 7-9. More than 70 race cars race in the series, along with six classes of vehicles. The races are 50 minutes from start to finish.
3. If you love cooking, sign up for Cooking with Jacques and Claudine Pepin! Jacques Pepin has published more than 25 cookbooks and hosted a dozen TV shows teaching others how to cook. Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8-10 p.m., you can learn from them live at Sunset Center in Carmel! Jacques and his daughter Claudine will host live cooking demonstrations and share new cooking insights.
4. Monterey HistoryFest will take place Oct. 15 and 16 at Custom House Plaza in Monterey! This festival has grown over the years and offers a variety of programs that allow you to experience Monterey’s heritage and history in a brand-new way. You choose the activities that interest you most, as they are all free of charge unless otherwise noted. Custom House Plaza will have information about the events.
5. The Carmel International Film Festival will take place in Carmel-by-the-Sea Oct. 19-23. This film fest is known for its contemporary and independent films, and also music and fine art. Events are scattered throughout Carmel-by-the-Sea during the week, but Sunset Center is the hub for the occasion. Check out the schedule and purchase tickets for films and events that sound most appealing to you!
