Whether you live at Lake Nacimiento, you’re renting a vacation home for summer, or you’re just making a day or weekend trip to the lake, there are so many wonderful activities for the whole family to enjoy! If you’re new to the area, here’s a list of kid-friendly activities to enjoy at or near Lake Nacimiento this summer:
Boating – If you have a boat accessible, you could spend full days or weekends boating on Lake Naci with the whole family! Speed boats are excellent for adventure! Young kids enjoy tubing off the back, and older kids and adults enjoy an array of water sports, such as water skiing, surfing, wakeboarding and so on. Pontoon boats are great for larger crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere. Bring lifejackets and jump off the boat in deep waters!
Shoreline Fun – If you don’t own a boat and don’t want to rent one, your family can still have a ton of fun from the shoreline. Enjoy swimming and cooling off in the shallow waters. Set up chairs or blankets to have a picnic and lounge in the sun. Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards are also big hits, which can be pushed off from shore. There are also beautiful trails around the lake to explore. Bring your dogs or mountain bikes!
Fishing – Whether you fish from a boat or the shore, we see lots of photos of kids and families fishing together at Lake Nacimiento! The kids look so excited when they have a catch to show off! Lake Naci is known for its white bass and carp, but also catfish, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. You never know what you’ll catch! Lake San Antonio is also a great location for fishing.
Wildlife Spotting – When walking around the lake, or cruising the waters, keep your eyes out for wildlife! Fish aren’t the only creatures that call Lake Nacimiento home. People commonly spot deer along the lakeshore, and birds are plentiful. Bring binoculars and look for golden eagles, ospreys, Canadian geese or white pelicans. Other animals to spot include raccoons, badgers, wild pigs and others.
Camping – Most children marvel at the opportunity to sleep outside in a tent under the stars! Reserve a campground and enjoy family time with a barbecue, s’mores, stories, games, etc. Wake up bright and early to enjoy another day of Lake Naci fun!
There are also plenty of nearby parks, museums and zoos for families to enjoy together. Lake Nacimiento is a great place for family fun!
