Now that the holiday season is behind us, you might be wondering what to do with your free time at Lake Nacimiento this winter season. Temperatures have cooled, lake activity has lessened and local events have calmed down. As your Lake Nacimiento real estate agent, I’m here to offer you some fun winter activity suggestions. Don’t become a couch potato just because the holidays are over!
Fishing on Lake Nacimiento – Winter is a fantastic season for fishing, as boat traffic has diminished and temperatures are cooler, making for an all-around pleasant experience. Fish are still biting! Head out on the lake any time of day, dress in layers, and enjoy a relaxing day of fishing on the calm waters. Look into fishing tournaments in the area as well, as some tend to come through here during the winter months.
Hiking – Whether you walk on the trails around Lake Nacimiento, or you head to a trail anywhere on California’s Central Coast, winter is a fantastic season for hiking! The cooler temperatures may allow you to go further and exert yourself more without overheating from the hot summer sun. If you have New Year’s resolutions to get healthier this year, this is a great way to get started! Running or mountain biking on these trails are also great options.
Community Events – The nonstop schedule of events at our local Lake Nacimiento communities have slowed down, but that doesn’t mean they stopped! Keep up with the Oak Shores and Heritage Ranch Facebook pages, for example, to see when upcoming events or activities are scheduled. (Oak Shores is planning a Valentine’s Day dinner on Feb. 14, more info to come.) This is a great way to get out and meet your neighbors. Lake Life Wellness Center has all sorts of workout workshops and classes to get you back into shape after the holidays.
Local Attractions – With the holiday bustle over with, now is your perfect chance to take some day trips around the Central Coast region. Visit your favorite Paso Robles winery and enjoy a glass of wine on the patio while watching a sunset. Take a trip down Highway 1 before the spring break and summer crowds roll in. Check out a new restaurant during SLO CAL Restaurant Month, or visit a museum. Your options are endless!
Home Improvements – Winter is also a great time of year to tackle those home improvement projects you’ve been putting off! While your water toys hibernate for the winter, take the opportunity to fix any repairs that are needed on your house or boat, and make the upgrades you’ve been wanting. Give your house a fresh coat of paint and open the windows to allow the fresh air in. If you’d like to sell your Lake Nacimiento home this year, now is the time to upgrade, declutter and clean!
