Monterey County Events

Now that it’s November, it’s time to start planning for events and activities taking place in the Central Coast region of California this month! As your Monterey County real estate agent, allow me to fill you in on some big events coming up in the area, so that you can write them in your calendar and not miss a beat of the action.

  • The Big Sur Food & Wine Festival is this weekend, Nov. 3-5. You can indulge in delicious local food and wines while admiring the gorgeous scenery all along the mountainside and coastline in Big Sur. Attend the “Magical Mystery Tour” Thursday and glimpse hidden gardens and homes throughout Big Sur. A winemaker and chef will lead the way. This event will take place Friday as well, along with “Hiking with Stemware” and “Wine and Swine.” Then Saturday is the Walkabout Marketplace full of winemakers, chefs and other special guests, with “Hoe Down” finishing up the weekend. Winemaker dinners will take place at several Big Sur venues as well during the weekend.
  • Tall Ship Lady Washington will arrive at Moss Landing Harbor on Nov. 10 and will remain there until Nov. 23. This movie starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl back in 2003. Find out what it feels like to live the life of a pirate with public tours, sailing excursions and educational programs. It is a U.S. Coast Guard-inspected passenger vessel, so it is safe to ride!
  • Celebrate Veterans Day at the 7th Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 12! Begin the day with a Warhorse bike ride to Fort Ord National Monument and Dunes State Park, with a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. to honor Vietnam-era veterans with commemorative pins. A tour of the veterinary hospital will take place from 11:30 to noon, and the Marina High School Band will perform from 11:45 to 12:15. Ongoing, family-friendly activities include face painting, a miniature horse, community exhibits, history exhibits, Operation Gratitude crafts, gourmet food trucks, donuts and coffee and more.
  • The Big Sur Half Marathon will take place on Monterey Bay on Nov. 13! This weekend-long event includes a Health and Fitness Expo at the De Anza Rooms at the Portola Hotel & Spa and is free for anyone to attend. Enjoy shopping and chatting with over 40 vendors in the fitness and health industries Nov. 11 and 12. Run the Pacific Grove Lighthouse 5K on Nov. 12 if you’re not ready for a half marathon quite yet! Children can run in the By the Bay 3K on Saturday as well. The Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay takes runners through downtown Monterey, Cannery Row, Monterey Bay, downtown Pacific Grove and finishes at Custom House Plaza. Sign up to run or cheer on those who are!

Enjoy your month in Monterey County, or anywhere along the Central Coast. In my last blog post, I shared information about the Garagiste Festival coming to Paso Robles this month, so plan for that as well!
