Roll Out the Barrels Festival in SLO

Today, April 1, marks the beginning of the month-long Roll Out the Barrels Festival in SLO County! As your Central California real estate agent, I’m here to fill you in on the exciting events taking place between April 1 and May 3 for this event.

Barrels in Mission Plaza

Barrels in Mission Plaza will take place Thursday, April 30, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event requires a ticket purchase, and tickets cost $75 for VIP Early Entry and $50 for general admission. Tickets at the door cost $60.

This event will take place in downtown Mission Plaza with great wines, food and a “grown here, made here” experience. You’ll get to taste delicious samples from local wineries and chefs. JD Project will be there to perform live music, and you can enjoy a photo booth and take home a photo keepsake.

Taste the Coast

“Taste the Coast” Collaborative Winemaker Dinner will take place May 1. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. During this time, you will be taken on an epic comparative tasting of local wines while local winemakers educate you on the dynamics of growing and producing wine in the Central California region.

The winemaker dinner takes place at Café Roma Restaurant and costs $120 per person. A VIP weekend ticket, which includes Barrels in the Plaza and the winemaker dinner, costs $175.

Winery Events

Aside from these two main events, local wineries throughout SLO County will be hosting special events for you to enjoy. Here’s a handful of examples:

  • Saucelito Canyon will be pouring a special Heritage Zinfandel wine flight with barrel samples on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Niner Wine Estates will host tours of their LEED Certified and gravity-fed winery, which will include barrel samples of their 2014 Vintage.
  • Niner Wine Estates will also be serving an array of brunch dishes on Easter Sunday, along with their usual menu. These will include Lemon-thyme Blueberry Pancakes, Spicy Sweet Bacon and more.
  • Sinor-Lavallee will be pouring fresh barrel samples on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., and they will share techniques and methods that go into creating their wines. Cost is $10 per person.
  • Laetitia Vineyard will offer free 45-minute guided tours of their vineyard on Tuesdays, beginning at 2 p.m. They are free but do require a reservation, so call ahead!
