Paso Robles Wineries in the Spotlight!

Paso Robles Wineries in the Spotlight

Numerous Paso Robles area wineries were recently spotlighted in the news, and as your Central California real estate agent, I am here to fill you in on what you should know about each one. Paso Robles is continually in the spotlight for its amazing tasting wines and its innovative approaches to growing and producing. Sometimes, it’s hard just to keep up!

Eberle Winery

In an article on Examiner titled Eberle Winery: A pioneering passion for wine and Paso Robles, Eberle Winery was deemed one of the founding fathers of this region’s wine industry and a must visit.

Owner Gary Eberle was not only one of the first winemakers to establish himself in Paso Robles, but he was also the first to plant Syrah on the Central Coast and the first to make a 100 percent Syrah wine in the United States. The first winery caves to be built in Paso Robles were built here in 1994.

All of these achievements help explain why Eberle received the 2015 Wine Lifetime Achievement Award from the California State Fair, rightly so!

When you visit, if you wonder what is up with the iconic boar sculpture, fountain and logo, it is because Eberle means boar in German. But the Eberle’s have a soft side for dogs too, so you might be greeted by one of their two friendly dogs!

If you’d like wine tasting suggestions, the Examiner article offers many, such as the 2013 Chardonnay, the 2012 Cotes-du-Robles Blanc, the 20120 Barbera and others.

Adelaida Wine Trail

Adelaida District is not just one winery, but many wineries along this stretch of country road on the northern side of the Central California region between Highway 101 and Vineyard Drive.

Paso Robles Daily News recently highlighted this wine trail as a “parallel universe of pastoral vistas and quiet tranquility.” With old oaks lining the streets, rolling green hillsides and perfect rows of vineyards, this is a place that is well worth your visit if you haven’t been!

The article recommends visiting Alta Colina’s brand-new tasting room and winery that resides on a 130-acre site. The elevation of the vineyard reaches 800 feet, so it’s well worth a tour, if not just to admire the stunning views of the Paso Robles area from all sides.

The new tasting room facility is a sight to see, too. It includes the first Tesla charging station in Paso Robles, and a huge open space for tasting wines and enjoying the scenery. The article recommends five wines to try at Alta Colina, including 2011 GSM, 2013 Grenache Blanc, 2012 Claudia Cuvee and more.

For more information on Alta Colina, check out Hoot ‘n’ Annie Blog’s Q&A with Maggie Tillman of Alta Colina. There are two parts to it, with loads of information!

After Alta Colina, the Paso Robles Daily News article also recommends stopping at Lone Madrone, Halter Ranch and Tablas Creek, all which are located along the Adelaida Wine Trail.

Enjoy the ever-changing wines and wineries of the Paso Robles district! We are so lucky to have so many options right in our backyard. Which local winery is your favorite? Share!
