Mission San Antonio, CA

Have you ever visited Mission San Antonio de Padua? Whether you have or not, a great opportunity for visiting and admiring the history and archeology of the building, while also enjoying a community social, is their annual Fiesta! This event takes place this Sunday, June 12. As your Central Coast real estate agent, I highly recommend this event and am here to share the details with you.

The Mission San Antonio Fiesta is a great opportunity for families to come together and enjoy an entertaining day outdoors. The day will begin with a special Fiesta Mass at 11 a.m., in honor of St. Anthony. Following the mass will be the ever-popular, traditional oak-fired barbecue. Choose from either a half-chicken or a top sirloin dinner!

After you indulge in delicious barbecue, continue the day with dancing. Live bluegrass and Mariachi bands will be providing the music. While you eat or listen to music, you can buy a homemade dessert, enjoy a glass of beer or wine, or visit with local artisans. The artisans’ wares will be on display for you to admire and purchase if you so desire. You can also meet the Consigned Artists from the Mission gift shop!

Bring your children along too, as there will be lots of great prizes at the game booths for them! This is a real community-oriented, family-friendly event that you won’t want to miss. Festivities continue until 4 p.m.

It’s also a fundraiser, so no personal coolers are allowed. Help out a good cause while enjoying a day of food, music, art, fun and socializing with your neighbors.

If you’ve never visited Mission San Antonio, now is an excellent opportunity. The Mission’s rich history begins in 1771 when Padre Junipero Serra came to the Valley of the Oaks to establish the third mission in California. Now, the Mission is owned by the Diocese of Monterey and serves as an active Catholic parish, along with a retreat center, a gift shop and a center for community events.

The Fiesta is one of four annual fundraisers that take place each year to help raise the funds necessary for the upkeep of the Mission buildings and grounds, and to keep this rich piece of Central Coast history alive. A museum is also located in the front section of the main building, which you can tour to learn more! You can also enjoy the beautiful picnic grounds under shade trees.
