Fun Adventures at SLO County Wineries

SLO County Wineries
Disc Golf at a SLO County Winery

California Wine Month is winding down, but here in the Central Coast region, we consider every month wine month! There is never a bad time to visit a local winery and enjoy tastings, glasses of wine, food, live music, fun activities, amazing views and great company.

If the thought of sitting around at a winery all day doesn’t sound like fun to you, good news. Some wineries go above and beyond to offer fun activities and attractions! These are great options for people who want to stay active, or great for families with active kids.

So whether it’s in these last few days of California Wine Month, or in the months to come, stop by one of these SLO County wineries to enjoy one of these fun activities!

  • Disc Golf – Castoro Cellars is known nationwide for their Whale Rock Disc Golf Course! All you need is a disc. Grab a glass of wine and then try your luck on this 18-hole course among the vines of Castoro Cellars. You won’t find another disc golf course with better views.
  • Excursion Trail – Halter Ranch wants you to explore their land with them on the Excursion Trail! You will hop into a Land Rover Defender and ride around this historic piece of land, with ponds, wildlife and 281 acres of vineyards. Sip wine during the tour, take a tour of the winery, and then enjoy a private tasting.
  • Zip line – Ancient Peaks and Santa Margarita Ranch are making a name for themselves with their Zip and Sip option! Margarita Adventures offers a chance to zip over the vineyards of Ancient Peaks with six different ziplines. Before or after, enjoy a glass of wine to calm your nerves!
  • Bocce Ball – Numerous wineries in the area have bocce ball as a fun activity for you to enjoy while you sip on wine. One is Robert Hall Winery, which has two regulation courts outside, made from crushed oyster shells and a layer of oyster shell flour. Another is Niven Family Wine Estates, which also has two regulation courts and gorgeous views!
  • Helicopter Tour – Want to visit more than one winery, and in style? Sign up for a Helicopter Wine Tour with Paso Air Tours, and they will literally fly you directly to each winery. If you’ve got guests visiting you here on the Central Coast, this is one way to certainly wow them.

As you can see, there is more to do at wineries than just drink wine, although that’s certainly a reason worth visiting! Bring the kids along for bocce ball or ziplining over the vineyards, or get a group of friends together for a competitive game of disc golf, or a Land Rover vineyard tour.

Enjoy our vineyards and wineries here on the Central Coast this month and year-round.
