What to Do at California Mid-State Fair

The California Mid-State Fair begins next week! It runs from July 19 through July 30 this year at the Paso Robles Event Center. In our last blog post, we shared who will be performing at the Fair this year, from famous acts that require an extra ticket, to local bands that are included with Fair admission.

As your Central Coast real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on what else you can look forward to at the California Mid-State Fair this year, aside from live music! There is so much to do there, it’s hard to keep track sometimes. Here’s a general synopsis of the days to come in Paso Robles.

Entertainment options at the Fair extend way beyond live music! Attend the 98.1 KJUG Barndance, sign your babies up for the Diaper Dash, fall in love with the Farm Fresh Kids, let your kids create art at Kids Art Smart, let off steam at the Fun Zone, enter one of the Public Contests, sign up for the Tractor Races, meet farm animals at the Petting Zoo, and so much more.

The Carnival is a huge attraction for kids and families, and this year, tickets for the carnival rides are going to cost about half as much as they have in past years! There are rides for kids and teens of all ages. From the Carousel, Frog Hopper and Farm Bounce, to the Big Splash water ride, Cliff Hanger and House of Zombies, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Demonstrations are a great way to learn something new while getting involved and meeting others with the same passions as you. Kids will enjoy the Bugs, Slugs & Spiders demo. Adults may enjoy the Cake Decorating demo. You can also sit back and watch the Strongest Man & Woman contest, square dancers, zoo animals, youth performances and more.

Livestock shows and contests are a big part of California Mid-State Fair! There are events taking place throughout the week and half, such as poultry shows, rabbit shows, sheep dog trials, dog show, dairy goat show, swine showmanship and many others. Show off your livestock or just attend and admire everyone else’s!

Let’s not forget all of the amazing food you can find at the Fair as well! New vendors this year include Crave Mini Donuts, Top Notch Concessions, The Hurricane Kitchen, The Gingerbread Shop, Pon’s Chinese Food, Baja Lobster Dogs and William’s Concessions. Bring your appetite and stay hydrated!

More information about all of the activities and schedule of events can be found on the Fair website, along with special admission days. As your Central Coast real estate agent, I hope you and your family get to head to the Fair at least once to enjoy it! It’s a great example of old-fashioned fun that the Central Coast still thrives on.
