4th of July Festivities in Central California!

Central California Real Estate
Central California 4th of July

In my last blog post, I filled you in on the Old-Fashioned July 4th Celebration taking place in Paso Robles this Friday. As your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to now fill you in on what else is going on in the Central California region for the holiday! One perk to living here is that you almost always have numerous options when it comes to celebrating a holiday.

  • Start your July 4th morning off right! Oak Shores is hosting its annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast on Friday! This will take place from 8:30 to 10 a.m., or until the food is gone, at the OSCA Clubhouse. It only costs $5 per person, and for the adults, Bloody Mary’s and mimosas will be available.
  • Are you hanging out at Lake Nacimiento this weekend? The 4th of July is always a popular time for boating, fishing, swimming and water sports, so get out early and enjoy the water! In the evening, two movies will be shown at the Dragon Theater. On Friday is Disney’s “Brave” and on Saturday is Disney’s “Frozen.” Both will begin at 8:30 p.m.
  • Celebrate your 4th of July the King City way! On Friday, festivities kick off with a parade down Broadway at 9:30 a.m. Then the celebration moves to San Lorenzo Park, with an opening ceremony and Raising of the Colors at 11 a.m. From then until 4 p.m., families can enjoy activities, museum tours, food and beverage booths, historic demonstrations, an antique engine show and old-fashioned games. Live music will take place from noon to 3 p.m. by Altered Pieces, and the fireworks display begins at dusk at the King City Golf Course.
  • If you’re in the Downtown San Luis Obispo area on Friday, stick around for their Concerts in the Plaza Double Header! From 3 to 5 p.m., the soul, blues and Americana music of Proxima Parada will be performed. Then at 5:30 p.m., the California jamgrass band, Cuesta Ridge, will take the stage. Food vendors and the bar will open at 2:30 p.m., so go early to stake out a good spot.
  • July 5th is one of only two days of the year that anyone can go fishing, even without purchasing a fishing license! Take advantage, because as I explained in this blog post, the fishing has been good at Lake Nacimiento this summer! Don’t forget to remind yourself of these basic boat safety tips first.

There are lots of events taking place at SLO County wineries this weekend, and all across Monterey County. What are your plans for the 4th of July weekend? Leave a comment and share!
