Fall Activities at Lake Nacimiento

Lake Nacimiento
Fall at Lake Nacimiento

Fall is upon us here at Lake Nacimiento! While the fall season officially begins this Monday, Sept. 23, many people feel like it begins after Labor Day weekend, or once the kids start back at school. While the weather remains warm, sunny and beautiful here on the Central Coast, it’s time to eat pumpkin-flavored treats and enjoy fall activities at Lake Nacimiento.

As your Lake Nacimiento real estate agent, allow me to fill you in on some of the best fall activities at The Dragon. While the hot summer days are best for swimming and water sports, fall days are ideal for dryer activities at the lake:

Fishing – Lake Nacimiento is the only lake in California stocked with white bass, and the best time to find them is in the fall and spring. Once temperatures cool down a bit and crowds lessen, fishing is in its prime season! You can also find largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, carp and catfish.

Camping – Camping is great during any season at Lake Nacimiento, but most would agree that toasting marshmallows over a campfire is much more enjoyable on a crisp fall evening than on a hot summer one. Curl up in your blankets in the tent, and admire the stars in the fall night sky.

Trails – Whether you are walking your dog, riding your mountain bike, or horseback riding on your own horse or with a local company, there are plenty of trails around Lake Nacimiento and Lake San Antonio for you to enjoy on a beautiful fall day.

Water Activities – The weather is still warm enough to enjoy water activities as well, so get out on your boat and enjoy boating, swimming and water sports, with smaller crowds! The beauty of living on California’s Central Coast is that you can enjoy these warm-weather activities far into the fall season.

Local Attractions – There are plenty of local attractions to enjoy in SLO and Monterey counties. Visit a local winery in Paso Robles Wine Country, or visit a playground, museum or zoo with the kids. There is the Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero, the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, the Paso Robles Children’s Museum, Camp Roberts Historical Museum in San Miguel, and many others.

Fall Festivals – With fall comes pumpkins, scarecrows, apples, harvest season, Halloween and more. There are tons of seasonal fests and activities to enjoy this time of year on the Central Coast! The Cambria Scarecrow Festival, Harvest Wine Weekend and Oktoberfests are just some examples. Keep up with our blog posts for more info on upcoming events in the area!

Community Events – If you live in a Lake Nacimiento community, there are plenty of events for you to enjoy right outside your front door! In Oak Shores, for example, there are potluck dinners on Tuesdays, pontoon boat nights on Fridays, movies under the stars on Saturdays, and special events throughout the year. Keep up with our blog for upcoming events!

Fall is a wonderful time to live and play on Lake Nacimiento. If you’d like assistance buying and/or selling in the Lake Nacimiento real estate market this fall, or anywhere on the Central Coast, give our Oak Shores Realty team a call! We are here to help and to answer any questions you may have.
