Wine Tasting Guide for Paso Robles

Best Paso Robles Wineries

When you live in or near a renowned wine region like Paso Robles, it’s hard to decide which vineyards to visit on any given day. There are so many options, and everyone has their own personal favorites! That is why Huffington Post recently put together their own guide to wine tasting in Paso Robles. As your Central Coast real estate agent, allow me to fill you in on their recommendations, and see if you agree with them.

Huffington Post referred to the Paso region as the rule-breakers and innovators of wine, with bold and unusual blends regularly making debuts from experimental winemakers. Here’s a list of the wineries they say you can’t miss:

  • Denner Vineyards – Here you can enjoy a beautiful patio with rolling green hill views and oak trees for shade while sipping their 2015 Theresa Zinfandel or their 2014 Mother of Exiles.
  • Herman Story Wines – Enjoy some rock and roll during a party here while sipping on their 2013 or 2014 Grenaches, their 2014 GSM Casual Encounters, or their 2013 Syrah “John Sebastians.”
  • Derby Estate Wines – Take a Tower Tour of their facility, which used to be an old almond factory, and then sip on their 2014 Picpoul Blanc, their 2007 Sparking Pinot Noir Rose or their 2008 Maneater.
  • JUSTIN Vineyards and Winery – JUSTIN put Paso Robles on the map, so HP says no guide can leave them out. Tour their cave system and sip their 2014 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon or their Icons Tasting Flight!
  • McPrice Meyers – Enjoy a no-frills atmosphere with great wine. Sip on Terre Blanche Viognier/Roussanne blend for white wine, GSM blends for red wine, and their 2014 Les Galets Syrah.
  • Seven Oxen – This tasting room is right in the middle of town, is relatively new to the scene and has its own small organic farm. Sip on their 2013 Cassidy Grenache-Mouvedre blend or any other Grenache.
  • Turley Wine Cellars – They put out 20+ Zinfandels and delicious Petite Syrahs, and they are dedicated to organic farming techniques. Sip on their 2013 Ueberroth Zinfandel or Catalan-style 2013 Tecolote.

It’s nice to see some new names mentioned in an article about Paso Robles wineries. As there are over 300 in the area, it’s hard for all of them to receive the notoriety that they deserve!
