Then on Sunday is the big game in California! While no local teams are in the Super Bowl, the game is being played right up north in the San Francisco Bay Area, at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium. However, if you’re not going to the game, there are plenty of places right here in Central California to go watch and enjoy the game in good company.
As your Central California real estate agent, I’ve put together a list of the top places to watch the game in Monterey County, according to See Monterey:
- Knuckles Super Bowl Party – Kicks off at 11 a.m. They’ll have drink and menu specials, and two additional eight-foot screen projectors for viewing pleasure.
- Cannery Row Brewing Company’s Tailgate Party – Kicks off at 12 p.m. with a $30 buffet (both self-serve and passed dishes so you don’t miss any game action), five TV’s downstairs, 11 upstairs, trivia and prizes and more.
- Peter B’s Pigskin Palooza – Kicks off at 2 p.m. They’ll have 18 HD TV’s showing the game, along with an all-you-can-eat buffet, beer and drink specials, raffle prizes, giveaways and more.
- Esteban Restaurant Viewing Party – From 3 to 5 p.m., enjoy draft beers, cocktails and signature pintxos. Enjoy some delicious food during the game.
Reservations are highly encouraged for each of these parties. There are also plenty of sports bars around Central California that are great for viewing football games year-round to check out too.
If you’d rather stay home and host a party, See Monterey also collected some recipes from locals in Monterey County for the big game. Check out the Dungeness Crab, Kale and Artichoke Dip from Cindy’s Waterfront at Monterey Bay Aquarium, or Lentil Tagine from Esteban at Casa Munras. If you couldn’t care less about football, SFGate shared an article with all of the fun things to see, do, eat and drink in Monterey County, which is only two and a half hours south of San Francisco. Their recommendations include:
- Wine – Wine Enthusiast Magazine named Monterey County one of the Top Ten Wine Travel Destinations for good reason! Try local grapes in Carmel Valley, Salinas Valley and Carmel-by-the-Sea.
- Breweries – Monterey County is home to a variety of craft breweries and craft houses, including Peter B’s Brewpub, Cannery Row Brewing Company and Alvarado Street Brewery & Grill.
- Outdoor Activities – Don’t care about the game? Get a workout in while hiking at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, biking at Fort Ord Public Lands, or horseback riding at Salinas River State Beach.
