San Luis Obispo County is about to be swarming with more wine enthusiasts than usual, because Sunset SAVOR the Central Coast takes place this week and weekend, Sept. 24 through Sept. 27! As your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to update you on what you should know before the event.
First off, many of the events are already sold out, so if you want to partake in this week’s festivities, but you haven’t bought tickets yet, I suggest you don’t wait! General admission tickets for the Main Event cost $85 for Saturday or Sunday, $130 for VIP one-day passes, $150 for general admission weekend pass, or $300 for VIP weekend pass. VIP tickets get you a VIP parking pass, special entrance, welcome bag and entrance into the VIP area.
Strings at Sunset is the opening night party for SAVOR. This takes place Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Vina Robles Amphitheatre. Tickets cost $85 or $150 for VIP, or $170 for Strings at Sunset and Sunday’s Main Event. This is a 21 and up event.
This all-new event will feature theatrical performances from String Theory and DJ Violinist SPAGS, along with numerous other musical acts. It will also feature over 20 wines from the Sunset International Wine Competition winners, celebrity chef tastings and more.
Then Friday night, a slew of special events and dinners take place before the Main Event, but only one isn’t sold out yet! Cocktail Shootout will take place at Paso Robles Inn from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a battle between the best mixologists from the Central Coast in this cocktail competition. Each handcrafted cocktail will be paired with bites from Paso Robles Inn. You get to taste them all!
The Main Event takes place Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. at Santa Margarita Ranch. This is basically a grand tour of Central California. You can browse and sample from more than 100 wineries and artisanal food purveyors and restaurants. When you need a break, relax and enjoy some live music.
Aside from tasting wine, you can also enjoy 45-minute seminars each day, hosted by winemakers, sommeliers and industry experts! Saturday seminars include craft beer and cider tasting, being a wine competition judge, learning about chardonnay and meeting the Syrahs.
Sunday includes craft beer and cider tasting, sparkling wines from around the world, and wine and cheese pairings. Each day also includes food-related seminars! Tickets must be bought in advance for all of these seminars.
New this year is the Artists’ Village, which will showcase local SLO County artists and their artwork.
