Paso Robles Wineries Named Best In America!

Paso Robles
Four Top Paso Robles Wineries

Four Paso Robles wineries were recently included in a list of the 101 best wineries in the United States! As a Central California real estate agent, I love to see our local businesses, wineries and vineyards getting the national recognition they deserve.

The Daily Meal is an online publication that ranks food and drink experiences, and this list of wineries was based off of a quality-to-price ratio. It was also based on individual bottle quality, as well as the consistency of a winery’s complete offering.

Wineries were not able to submit themselves for consideration, unlike many other wine competitions. This means that Paso Robles wines were selected based on their quality alone! The four wineries that made the list were Peachy Canyon, Tablas Creek and Saxum, which were all in the top 50, and Caparone, which was 69th.

Peachy Canyon

Peachy Canyon Winery is a small family-owned winery, owned by the Beckett family since 1988, on the West side of Paso Robles. They specialize in estate Zinfandels, including red, whites and dessert wines, and they’ve won numerous awards for them! They also have Cabernets, Merlots and special blends available to sample. You can sample in their renowned Old School House tasting room in Templeton from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Tablas Creek

Tablas Creek Winery was created by a partnership between two families in 1985. Their 120-acre property was purchased in 1989 in west Paso Robles, which is now a USDA certified organic estate vineyard. They specialize in Rhone varietals, and all of their farming practices are done organically. They grow four varietals for the reds and six for the whites. The winery hosts lots of events year-round and can often be found in the news for wine or winemaker awards.

Saxum

Saxum Vineyards is known for producing Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre based blends. Everything is farmed sustainably without any chemicals of any kind, and they keep their yields low, so as to respect the land and soil, and to use a minimalist approach in the cellar. Saxum Vineyards is a private residence with no tasting facilities at this time, but their wines are obviously worth purchasing and trying, since they made the list of the best wineries!

Caparone

Caparone Winery is located northwest of Paso Robles and is one of the oldest small, artisan wineries in the region. They specialize in rich, complex red wines, and they use minimalist techniques. Special interest has been given to three Italian red varietals, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Aglianico. You can purchase wine from the website, or you can visit the winery for samples of current releases and future releases from the barrel. They are open for tours and tastings daily from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on Wednesdays.

Stop by these Paso Robles wineries soon and congratulate them on making this list! When ready to buy a home in Central California, so you can conveniently enjoy these and many other wines anytime you want, contact me! I’m your Central California real estate agent, ready and willing to help!
