As we put the 4th of July behind us this year, residents of Lake Nacimiento area are looking for something fun to do. A great way to end the month of July is with the 13 day California mid state fair. Held in Paso Robles the fair has something for people of all ages.
If music is your thing, there are five different stages to visit. With headliners like Zac Brown Band, Journey, Brad Paisley, and Earth Wind and Fire there is entertainment all around you. The bands range from country to classic rock, so there will always be someone to check out.
Another fun part of the fair are the theme days. Monday, July 23rd is free for kids 12 years old and younger. Once inside visit the multiple petting zoos or take in a horse show in the morning. Visit the fair on Thursday, July 19th where it is Cattlemen and Farmer’s day. A day filled with agriculture events and a delicious barbecue dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. it’s an excellent way to have a relaxing day.
Are you the best baker in the Lake Nacimiento area? Come show off your talents at the Apple Pie Contest, it is free to enter and numerous prizes for the winners. Running on its 5th year at the fair the apple pie contest is one of the most popular events.
The home arts building is also one of the most visited areas at the fair. Featured every day, the home arts building has cake decorating for kids, but also some great sewing exhibits as well. Get your hands on a quilt and learn how to create luxurious blankets. Carnival Rides are also present at the fair, for people looking for a little bit more excitement in their day.
Admission is available in daily passes, or season passes. The California mid state fair is a fun way to finish out the month of July.
