MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IN OAK SHORES
A few important items to review and share with your family and guests
MUSSEL INSPECTION STATION
We will have a Mussel Inspection & Sticker station at the Main Marina Parking Lot and is only intended for owners.
(All other watercrafts for guests and renters will be inspected at the gatehouse upon entry.)
The mussel inspection station will be open from 4pm-8pm on Friday May 22nd. On Saturday May 23rd, and Sunday May 24th we will open at 8am-12pm.
It will also be open on Friday evenings throughout the summer.
Staff are not available to sign off “last minute” mussel forms for anybody already waiting in line to launch and forgot to get this completed prior to entering the launch ramp area. Homeowner stickers and updates will also be available at the mussel station.
Vessels MUST BE CLEAN, DRAINED, & COMPLETELY DRY prior to entry. If any water is present on the watercraft, including even a small amount, the vessel may be subject to denial.
Please note that if your vessel or a guest vessel has previously been denied at the resort, that information will appear in the online system associated with the CF number, and the vessel will also be denied entry into the community.
Starting this weekend, Code Enforcement/Staff will be on the ramps intermittently spot checking for valid mussel inspection permits. If you do not have a current permit that has been properly stamped by Oak Shores staff, you will not be permitted to launch your vessel.
Please be advised that the Rangers, Fish & Game, and Sheriff’s Department are actively patrolling the lake and conducting compliance and safety inspections on the water. Please ensure you are prepared and in compliance with all applicable regulations at all times.
VESSEL LAUNCHING REMINDERS:
Our goal is to launch/retrieve multiple boats at a time to help speed up the process. It is safe to assume the ramp areas will be busy and wait times may be extended. At times traffic control staff will be present to help direct the flow of traffic at the ramps. When you enter into the turnaround area to begin the launch turnaround process, you are now considered “going live” and must be ready to move forward/maintain momentum to make the turnaround and promptly back into an open spot on the ramp and immediately vacate once launched.
Stopping to visit with bystanders, using the restroom or abandoning your vehicle at this stage for any reason is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. ONCE LAUNCHED, YOU MAY NOT TIE YOUR BOAT OR WATERCRAFT TO THE LAUNCH DOCK AT ANY TIME! Pick-up and drop off only from the launch dock of your driver after parking is the only practice permitted.
The West Ramp community dock is currently open for use; however, it is available at your own risk, as some slips are missing hardware.
Here are a few suggestions we would like to provide to help you get your vessel into the water as fast and as safely as possible.
Have a person experienced at backing up a trailer to load and unload your watercraft.
Have your tie downs off and be ready to go when you are up next to go live.
Have at least one person with you to help operate the boat and another to drive your vehicle.
Listen and obey commands given to you by our Code Enforcement staff.
DO NOT for any reason at all whatsoever abandon your vehicle once you are the next one up to launch your watercraft.
If you are intoxicated or on medication let someone else unload and load your watercraft.
Do not stop to wipe down your boat when exiting. Tie downs can be placed on your vessel when loading at the water or at your house.
Parking
Main Marina Parking is OWNER’S ONLY on Holiday weekends beginning Friday through Sunday, and on non-holiday weekends, Saturday and Sunday.
Detached trailers are not permitted to be parked on the streets or marina lots at any time. No overnight parking in Marina Lots.
During the summer season, owners can park on non-built lots (not contiguous with a house) provided the weeds have been cut. This privilege is limited to vehicles, boats and/or trailers with CURRENT Oak Shores Stickers and is limited to the Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is noted that this is temporary parking, not long term storage.
Overflow Parking:
The vacant lot on the left before you enter the West Ramp area will be designated and marked as a (temporary) parking area for vehicles and trailers (NO unattached trailer), and no overnight parking is allowed after 10:00pm and before 7:00AM for owners, guests and renters. The marked emergency driveway Between the signs) near West Ramp may not be blocked.
The marked vacant greenbelt across from the golf course will be designated and marked for VEHICLES ONLY (no trailers) and overnight parking is allowed for Guests or Owners.
The overflow trailer parking at the campground is owner’s only (detached trailers are allowed, and overnight parking is allowed. Maximum of 72 hours).
Parking is allowed at the Clubhouse Parking Lot, but no overnight parking is allowed, and no trailers are permitted.
(There is NO PARKING at the OSCA Clubhouse Parking Lot next to the Pool on Sunday May 24th, 2026, due to the event).
VIP GUEST LANE AT GATEHOUSE
There will be the VIP Guest Lane at the Gatehouse Friday May 22nd, 2026 from 4PM – 8PM for Guests without watercraft or campground reservations. All watercraft, campground check-ins and renters must check in at the gatehouse.
This allows for a faster check-in process for guests who have already been called in at least 24 hours prior. The guest will drive up in the guest lane to the staff with the mobile cart, provide the name and address of the homeowner, and staff will issue the guest placard and have the guest proceed forward to enter the community.
If your guest arrives after hours, they will need to return to the gatehouse the following morning to check in and obtain their guest placard. Please note that guests without a visible guest placard are subject to receiving a fine, which will ultimately be charged to the homeowner.
Proper identification is defined as having a current Oak Shores Sticker affixed to the windshield (per OSCA standard practice), a guest pass, and renter pass or vendor mirror tag visible at all times in the community.
WATERCRAFT REGISTRATION
During the seasonal period from the week prior to Memorial Day Weekend thru the week following Labor Day Weekend “Summer Season” a $50.00 processing fee will be charged for all Renter and Guest Watercraft entering Oak Shores. If said watercraft is paid in advance by more than 24 hours prior to arrival, this processing fee will be waived.
DO NOT FORGET
You have to pay the Monterey County Daily Use or Annual Use watercraft fees prior to launching your vessel. This is a water use fee, and you must purchase this for inflatable paddleboards, kayaks, vessels etc. CLICK HERE to be redirected to their website to purchase the water use fees online. You would need to click the Pay Vessel Launch Fees. You will have the two options on the bottom right pictures to either purchase the Daily Vessel Launch Fee, or the Annual Vessel Decal.
Don’t hesitate to call the office if you have any questions or need assistance.
PRIVATE MARINA & PRIVATE DOCKS
All vessels parked in the private marina docks/slips are required to be registered with the Oak Shores Community Association, provide proof of current watercraft insurance, and must display current decals denoting owner, guest, or renter watercraft. All Guest or Renter vessels are required to be registered with Oak Shores with proper fees paid regardless of where the vessel is moored or parked. A vessel is considered entered into the community when it is located at any property address within Oak Shores, including private docks.
Public Docks:
Watercrafts may not be left in Association slips for more than seven (7) days. Removal must be for at least 72 hours (3 days) between seven (7)-day periods, beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending Labor Day weekend. This time frame is established as seven (7) consecutive days or seven (7) out of any ten (10) day period of time in the community boat slips.
Please note that temporarily removing a boat from a slip for a day does not reset the occupancy period. Likewise, relocating a boat from one slip to another after seven days does not constitute the start of a new occupancy period. All slip usage remains subject to the established time limitations and regulations. Inflatables may not be left in the Community Slips. Jet skis must park in the first two slips, “nearest shore”, on each dock when available.
If an owner leaves the Association for seven (7) days or more, the vessel must be removed from the slip.
Drive Careful! Speeding, Unlicensed drivers, not stopping at stop signs and off-roading are all against the rules and the rules are in place for YOUR SAFETY.
Please note that office hours on Friday, May 22nd, will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. due to staff assisting with VIP lane operations at the gate.
Please be patient and treat all staff with respect! We are all doing our best to help make sure your weekend is as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to contact the office at (805) 472-2233.
