What to See and Do in Cambria, CA

In my last blog post, I highlighted what to see and do in Paso Robles, according to a recent spotlight article in Wine Enthusiast. Today, as your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to share what SFGate recently highlighted about Cambria!

As they stated, Cambria is a taste of coastal town charm, with so much to see, do, eat and drink. Here are some of their suggestions if you have a whole day to explore Cambria:

  • Take a scenic drive. Rather than driving into Cambria from Highway 1, SFGate recommends taking Santa Rosa Creek Road from westbound Highway 46. This 16-mile winding route is worth the extra time, because of the woodlands, meadows and ocean glimpses you can enjoy. Along the way, you can stop at a farm stand, a winery and a local restaurant with olallieberry pie.
  • Shop and stroll. SFGate suggests stopping into gourmet-food-themed Fermentations, with wines, olive oils and vinegars to taste. You could also print a detailed map from the Cambria Historical Society website and enjoy a 28-stop self-guided Historical Cambria Walking Tour. By following the tour, you’ll get to stop into shops that carry hand-blown wineglasses, artisan jewelry, organic soda, chocolate and so much more. They suggest Robin’s Restaurant for lunch.
  • Stretch with a coastal hike. The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is worth checking out when you want some physical activity with great views! It has a whopping eight entrances and 12 hiking trails, so it’s nearly impossible to miss. Some of the trails are designed for cyclists or equestrians as well. Take the mile-long trail along an ocean bluff while spotting whales, or view one of the last surviving stands of Monterey pines.
  • Take a farm tour. Cambria has deep rural roots, and you can appreciate this bit of history by taking a farm tour with Stepladder Creamery! Be sure to make an appointment ahead of time. You’ll get to view avocado, guava and other semitropical fruit trees, passion fruit vines, oak meadows, heritage pigs, Lamancha goats and more. Enjoy cheese at the end of the tour, made from the goats’ milk!
  • Sip and relax. If you’re looking for a relaxing beverage, without the restaurant atmosphere, stop into Verde of Cambria for a tea of the day, or into Cambria Coffee Roasting Co. for a coffee or cappuccino. If you’re craving a glass of wine, West Village is home to three tasting rooms, Cutruzzola Vineyards, Black Hand Cellars and Moonstone Cellars.
