Tips for Fall Home Sellers in Central California

Fall Home-Selling Tips

Are you selling your Central California home this fall? With each season comes particular seasonal tasks that should be completed by the seller. As your Central California real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on some today. Here’s a summarized list of some tasks that Angie’s List shared recently:

  • Continually rake the falling leaves from your yard, daily if needed, so that your yard is leaf-free for listing photos and for when potential homebuyers drive by or visit your house.
  • Clean the gutters of fallen leaves and debris that have collected over time, and repair or replace the gutters if necessary.
  • Check the status of your furnace by hiring a professional HVAC contractor. They can examine the functionality of your heating unit, calibrate the thermostat, check for carbon monoxide emissions and gas pressure, and much more.
  • Change your air filters on a monthly basis as regular maintenance for your furnace.
  • If you have a fireplace, hire a certified chimney sweep to clean your fireplace and inspect it for any issues. A new guard for top of your chimney is a common replacement need.
  • Give your Central California home a fall look. Hang a fall wreath on your front door, flank your front entryway with an array of pumpkins, gourds and mums, or plant some fall annuals in your front yard.
  • Light some fall-scented candles inside your home as a way to appeal to all senses. You may also bake cookies or a pumpkin or apple pie for a fresh fall scent.
  • Create a fall table centerpiece, complete with a bowl of gourds and small pumpkins, or an array of apples. You could also create a fall flower arrangement. Get creative!
  • Add warm, cozy accessories to your Central California home, which will make potential homebuyers want to curl up in your homey space. This could include rugs on your hardwood floors, throw pillows and blankets, thicker window curtains and more.
  • Dust and clean all of the lightbulbs and light fixtures inside your home, to make it look as bright as could be during evening hours. Replace any bulbs that are burnt out.

Make your way through this checklist this fall when trying to sell your Central California home, and contact me! As your Central California real estate agent, I can help guide you through the home-selling process so that you get through it as quickly and successfully as possible.
