The summer months are winding down, but the weather here at Lake Nacimiento is still beautiful. Take advantage of what is left of summer by visiting the lake and taking part in water activities. As your Lake Nacimiento real estate agent, I’d like to remind you of all the fun readily available to you here!
Fishing at Lake Nacimiento
The latest fishing report from Monterey Lakes Recreation Co. reported that the hot spot for fishing continues to be the mouth of Las Tablas cove, as well as the northern shoreline near the entrance. Snake and Dip Creek coves are also producing great White bass hauls.
Roostertails continue to be the catch all lure. Monterey Lakes Recreation Co. recommends using plastic worms and swim bait for Bass, and sticking to natural colored lures during summer. Early morning fishing is the best, between 6 and 10 a.m., followed by evening fishing, around sunset and beyond. Afternoon fishing has been slow.
Watersports at Lake Nacimiento
Contrary to what some believe, there is still plenty of water in Lake Nacimiento for watersports! In fact, professional Liquid Force riders visited the lake in July. You can view photos here and watch a video here.
There is also plenty of wakeboarding, skiing, surfing and more going on in the watersports community of Lake Nacimiento. There is even a Facebook page for this community, where you can view photos and meet others with the same interests as you. They are looking for experienced boat drivers as well! This is a great community to get involved in when wishing to meet new people.
Boating at Lake Nacimiento
Even if you’re not fishing or wakeboarding in Lake Nacimiento, you can still enjoy boating around the lake! Jump off your boat and enjoy swimming in the cool water on a hot day. Pull a tube on the end of your boat for the kids to ride. Pack a picnic and eat it on the boat. Ride around and feel the wind in your hair. Then park the boat and enjoy relaxation time. Enjoy kayaking or paddle-boarding in the water for a good workout.
If you don’t have a boat, or you’d like to meet new people and get social, join us and the Oak Shores community for free pontoon boat rides on Thursday evenings. We gather at 5:45 p.m. at the docks and head out on the water at 6 p.m. You can bring your own beverages and a food dish to share for a potluck dinner. We usually return from the lake around 8:30 p.m.
