Fourth of July weekend might be over, but summer is just beginning! If you haven’t made it out to Lake Nacimiento yet, now is the time to do so. Summer is such a wonderful season for enjoying lake activities, and as your Lake Nacimiento real estate agent, I’d love to fill you in on all that you can enjoy here at this Central Coast gem!
Fishing at Lake Nacimiento
Lake Nacimiento is the only lake in California stocked with white bass, and anglers can find just about every native warm water fish here, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill and crappie, carp and catfish. Black bass are found around brush, rocks and off the points. Catfish are found in shallow areas and at heads of coves. Bluegills are found along shores and in inlets. Crappie hide where there is cover.
Early morning fishing is said to be best, between 6 and 10 a.m., followed by evening fishing, around sunset and beyond. These are the cooler parts of the day, too!
Watersports at Lake Nacimiento
Contrary to what some believe, there is still enough water in Lake Nacimiento for watersports! You can enjoy wakeboarding, water skiing, surfing and more. There is even a Facebook page for this community, where you can view photos and meet others with the same interests as you. Otherwise, just take out your speed boat, or rent one, and have an adventure.
Boating at Lake Nacimiento
Even if you’re not fishing or wakeboarding in Lake Nacimiento, you can still enjoy boating around the lake! Jump off your boat and enjoy swimming in the water on a hot day. Pull a tube on the end of your boat for the kids to ride. Pack a picnic and eat it on the boat. Ride around and feel the wind in your hair. Park the boat and enjoy relaxing. Enjoy kayaking or paddle-boarding in the water for a good workout.
If you don’t want to actually be on or in the water, you can also enjoy hiking the trails around Lake Nacimiento, or lounging on the shorelines with a picnic, music, fishing line, camera, book or whatever you prefer. We also enjoy lots of events at the Oak Shores Clubhouse, so check those out regularly!
