The temperatures are blazing this summer on the Central Coast, but there are plenty of ways to cool off, and Lake Nacimiento is one of your best options! As your Lake Nacimiento real estate agent, allow me to offer some tips on how to stay cool while enjoying the lake right in the heat of summer.
Most people enjoy the lake by boating and swimming. These happen to be the best ways to cool off as well! If you love fresh water, visiting Lake Nacimiento or Lake San Antonio are great ways to cool off in a body of water that isn’t the ocean or a chlorinated pool. Just the breeze from traveling by boat on the water is enough to cool you off, but taking a swim helps the cause even more! Jump off the boat or swim from the shoreline. Just being on or near the lake can make you feel cooler. Fishing is another great option, and since the lake gets pretty crowded during the days, the best time to go fishing is at dusk or dawn. Coincidentally, the temperatures will also be cooler at these times, so it’s a great, tranquil time to keep cool and do what you love doing on the water.
When you have a picnic near Lake Naci, or camp, make sure to eat cooling foods, like seasonal fruit, salads and sandwiches. Always have plenty of cold water or lemonade handy to hydrate with. Sit in the shade of trees whenever possible. Wear light colored, loose clothing. If you’re cooking inside your Lake Nacimiento home, avoid using your kitchen appliances to cook, as they heat up the house. Opt for an outdoor grill or the microwave over the stove or oven.
When you’re out and about during the day, keep your window shades down at your Lake Naci home. This keeps the sun out, so your air conditioner doesn’t have to work as hard, and your home will stay cooler. At night, use as few lights as possible, as incandescent bulbs can product as much heat as they do light. Switching to fluorescents or LEDs will not only keep you cooler, but also save you money on your energy bills. Ceiling fans are great for cooling off as well!
If a pool is more your thing, there are community pools in both Oak Shores and Heritage Ranch, and a pool at Lake Nacimiento Resort. Jumping in the pool is another great way to stay cool.
