Road trip options from Lake Nacimiento

With March upon us, it’s time to start thinking about springtime activities. Spring is a great season to spend at Lake Nacimiento, boating, fishing, hiking, and achieving your Lake Nacimiento real estate market goals. Our recent rains have been filling the lake back up, so it should be a great season of fun at the lake! As your Lake Nacimiento real estate agent, I am here to help you with any selling and/or buying goals you’d like to accomplish before summer.

Spring is also a great season for taking road trips around the Central Coast region. There are so many communities surrounding Lake Nacimiento, it’s hard to know where to go when looking for a road trip adventure! Here a few options:

Paso Robles – Paso is less than a 30 minute drive from Lake Naci and makes for a well-deserved day trip or weekend staycation! Head to Downtown Paso for a few hours, to browse the local businesses, take a walk in the downtown park, and sip on some wines at downtown tasting rooms. Or, head into wine country and taste wines straight from the vineyards. There are always plenty of events taking place throughout Paso! In our last blog post, we filled you in on Zinfandel Weekend coming up.

Big Sur – Big Sur is a few hour’s drive, but the views on the drive is worth the trip alone. Drive along Highway 1, making stops along the way to view the beautiful coastline. Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is on the way, with gorgeous hiking trails and waterfalls. Stop at a hot springs for a relaxing soak. Then stay overnight in a cabin and enjoy dining at a fine cliffside restaurant.

Pismo and Avila Beach – These two oceanfront towns are close enough to hit both in one day. Both offer boardwalks and delicious dining options right on the ocean. Spend the day tanning on the sand, or kayaking or surfing in the water. Take a bike ride along the Bob Jones Trail, which ends right at the Avila Beach promenade. Stop at a hot springs along the path, or a winery. In Pismo, check out the Monarch Butterfly Grove.

San Simeon – Hearst Castle still remains one of the most visited attractions on the Central Coast, and for good reason. If you have yet to tour this fortress, plan a trip into your schedule! Even if you have been there, they’ve got numerous tour options, so you may find one you haven’t done before. This is another beautiful drive, and right down the road, you can stop and admire dozens of elephant seals at the Piedras Blancas elephant seal rookery.

Where is your favorite place to take a road trip on the Central Coast? Monterey? San Luis Obispo? Carmel-by-the-Sea? Leave a comment and let us know!

Of course, if you don’t live at Lake Nacimiento, perhaps your road trip is to Lake Naci, for a weekend of camping, boating or fishing. If you’d like to make Lake Naci your permanent or vacation home this spring, give our Oak Shores Realty team a call! We’re here to help you make that happen!
