One of the great things about living in the beautiful San Luis Obispo region is the enjoyment of local farms.  There are a number of farms ranging from cattle to fruit and even a lavender farm!  Most of these local growers offer tours or a chance to come pick your own product.  Oftentimes they will host events in order to give back and get involved in their community.

This Saturday, July 10, from 10am to 3pm, the Central Coast Lavender Farm in Paso Robles is hosting the 2nd Annual Central Coast Lavender Festival!  This fun and free event will take place in downtown Paso Robles City Park.  Many people aren’t aware of all of the wonderful products of lavender, and this festival showcases all that this fragrant flower has to offer.  From oils, to cuisine which includes sauces and ice cream, there are many ways that lavender can be enjoyed.  There will be educational seminars on growing and preserving lavender to lessons on distilling and even the benefits of lavender.

Accompanying this day of lavender celebration is a juried art show along with local vendors and live music!  If you’re looking for a fun-filled day only a short drive from Lake Nacimiento, consider heading to Paso Robles and taking in the sights, smells and tastes of lavender.  For more event information, visit the Central Coast Lavender Farm website.
