Garagiste Festival Paso Robles

Now that Halloween is over, and Thanksgiving is yet to come, what can you do to pass your time here in Central California? As your Central California real estate agent, I suggest that you attend Garagiste Festival in Paso Robles this weekend!

The 5th Annual Garagiste Festival takes place Nov. 5 through Nov. 7. Garagiste is a term used to define renegade small-lot winemakers of the past, who sometimes worked out of their garage, and didn’t follow any of the rules of the industry. Now it’s a full-fledged movement responsible for some of the best wine in the world! Proceeds from this event benefit the Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture Program.

The weekend kicks off with a five-course winemaker dinner held at the historic Carlton Hotel in Atascadero on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Cost for dinner is $135 per person. You’ll get to enjoy local, organic artisan food paired with wines from five Garagiste winemakers.

Friday, Nov. 6 is the “Out-of-Towners” Winemaker Mixer from 7 to 10 p.m. at Broken Earth Winery in Paso Robles. With this year’s “Rare & Reserve” theme, you’ll get to taste some off-the-grid wines and chat with the people who make them. It’ll showcase barrel samples, wine club, library, sold-out and pre-release wines. There will also be out-of-town wineries from all over the state pouring only at this event.

Saturday is the Main Event at the Paso Fairgrounds. Here you can enjoy educational and unique winemaker panel and tasting seminars. These seminars are included with a VIP ticket, along with a Wine Country Box Lunch and early access to the Grand Tasting. VIP seminar tickets cost $115.

Seminar one begins at 11 a.m., titled “Exploring the Aroma Wheel” with Madeline Puckette, co-founder of WineFolly.com. Seminar two begins at 11:45 a.m. titled “Techniques of the  Garagiste: The Secret of Stems” with three winemakers.

The Grand Tasting takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. with over 50 winemakers pouring more than 150 wines and more than 20 varietals. Vivant Fine Cheese will provide cheese and charcuterie, and other food will be available to sample as well from local vendors. Grand Tasting tickets cost $60, or $85 for Early Access at 1 p.m.

The festival is capped off with the Rockin’ After-Party from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., where guests and winemakers can mingle, drink some local brews, munch on Gusto on the Go Bistro food and dance to the music of AC/DC cover band High Voltage. This After Party costs $20 per person.

If you or someone you know would like to attend the festival as a designated driver, tickets cost $15. This includes food samples and a $10 coupon to Gusto on the Go.

A special Paso Weekend Tasting Pass is available for $145, which includes all of the weekend’s festivities, except the anniversary dinner. This is definitely the best deal! Entry to all of the activities is for those age 21 and up.

Enjoy your weekend here in Paso Robles, where the wine is always flowing and the fun never stops! When ready to accomplish your goals in the Central California real estate market, contact me, your Central California real estate agent. I’d love to help you out!
