Rustic décor is a common lake house theme. If you’d love to pull this off, it’s all about the wood. For flooring, wide plank flooring in dark or medium stain is best. To warm up floors for fall and winter, add a hooked or braided area rug. Distressed wood furniture is ideal as well, with fabrics like leather or chenille.
If just looking to accessorize, consider old bottles, tools, tin signs, canoe poles mounted on a porch, or a fish or boat motif. Lanterns are a great way to light up the night. Place a metal sculpture on the fireplace mantel, photos in distressed frames, and maybe even some old-fashioned photos of your own. Exposed beams on the ceiling add a nice touch to rooms.

Accessorize with colored blown glass bottles or vases, hand-carved bookshelves or mantels, wheel or barrel lighting fixtures, candle chandeliers, wood carvings, nautical themed décor on the walls and by the front entry, floral patterns in the bathroom, and wood shutters or blinds for windows.
Modern Lake House
If you want to feel up-to-date in your Lake Naci home, any flooring will work, such as cork, marble, wood, stone or vinyl. Chrome or glass furniture glistens in the sun, like the water on the lake. White leather can brighten up a room. Vibrant blues and greens bring the nature from outside in and complement a bright white room well.
Accessorize with blue glass pendant lighting, modern interpretations of lakes, birds, beaches, etc. for wall art, motivational quotes on canvas, and windows with no window treatments, so natural light and lake views can fill the home. Roll-up bamboo shades are a great option for a porch or bedroom.
