As your SLO County real estate agent, I realize that sometimes, you just want to sit back, unwind and enjoy some entertainment. That’s why I’ve put together a list of upcoming shows for you to enjoy around the SLO County area! Purchase tickets to a performance that sounds most entertaining to you.
1. The Producers takes place at Repertory Theatre in San Luis Obispo from now until March 11. Catch a performance Wednesday through Sunday at 7 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Prices range from $40 to $50. This hilarious musical from Mel Brooks won 12 Tony awards. It’s about an old Broadway producer and an accountant who team up to get rich by producing what they imagine to be the worst musical they can think of.
2. The SLO County Comedy Festival takes place from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25, with numerous events taking place each night! Feb. 22 starts off with Comedy 101 in Atascadero in the Caladero Room at Holiday Inn Express & Suites, and it ends Feb. 25 with Best of the Fest, bringing you the best performers from the entire festival. Lineup is announced that day at 4 p.m. Visit the website for a full list of shows!
3. If you love hits from ABBA, like Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Take a Chance on Me, you’ll love seeing ABBA MANIA, the original ABBA tribute band from London’s West End. They will be performing all of your favorite ABBA hits at Clark Center for the Performing Arts in Arroyo Grande on Feb. 24. Tickets range from $40 to $52.
4. If you want a good show, and to be part of it, head to the Annual Western Dance Jamboree in Cambria! This is hosted by the Cambria Chamber of Commerce each year on the last Saturday of February, which is Feb. 24 this year. Workshop and evening dance cost $45, and dance only is $15. Enjoy 18 different classes from 10 world-class dance instructors, and then show off what you learned at the dance! Watching others dance is quite fun as well.
5. Head into March with the ‘Just Jazz’ concert presented by Cal Poly’s University Jazz Bands. This will take place March 2 at Harman Hall in the Performing Arts Center. The show will include a slow, soulful blues number, a rousing flag-waver trumpet and a Latin-jazz version of a classic. Two big bands and two jazz combos will be featured in this great event. Tickets cost $12-14 general, or $9-12 students and Jazz Federation members. They host numerous other concerts to check out as well.
