Central Coast Fall Activities

If you’re looking for some affordable activities this fall on California’s Central Coast, you’ve come to the right place! As your Central Coast real estate agent, I am here to fill you in on where and what to do this fall, either free or affordable. If you’re saving up to buy a Lake Nacimiento home, sticking with budget-friendly activities is the best way to save!

Lake Nacimiento – A visit to Lake Nacimiento is an easy to way to enjoy a day of fun for little to no cost. If you own a boat, kayak, paddleboard, etc., pack it in the car and enjoy a day on the water! Or, bring your bikes or just your feet, and explore around the lake. If you live here, you have lake views and activities to enjoy every day for free. Here’s a list of fall activities to enjoy on Lake Nacimiento.

Outdoor Activities – The entire Central Coast region is loaded with fun outdoor activity options that don’t cost a cent. Take a hike, run or bike ride on a beautiful local trail. Drive along Highway 1 and enjoy the oceanfront views. Relax on a beach or ride the waves. Sip on a glass of wine on a local winery’s patio.

Zoo Trip – Pack the family into your car and head to Atascadero’s Charles Paddock Zoo. This is SLO County’s only zoo, and definitely worth a visit, as it is home to hundreds of species. Adults cost $10 and kids cost less depending on age. You can even rent kayaks and cruise around a lake there!

Apple Picking – If you love apples, apple picking is a great activity for couples, friends or families! There are plenty of locations that are within driving distance. See Canyon Fruit Ranch in Avila Valley, Gopher Glen, SLO Creek Farms and Avila Valley Barn are some great options. Head home with your apples and bake some delicious apple treats! Your kitchen will smell delicious.

Fall Festivals – Get in the festive fall spirit at local festivals! The Cambria Scarecrow Festival runs all month long in October and features hundreds of scarecrows scattered throughout the community. Also coming up is Morro Bay Harbor Festival, Rocktoberfest, Butterfly Parade & Bazaar, and many others.

Outdoor Movie – San Luis Obispo’s Sunset Drive-In is keeping the drive-in movie theater tradition alive. They update their lineup for the weekend each Thursday. Or, if you live in Oak Shores, catch Saturday evening movies on the patio. If you grab a projector and sheet, you could even create your own outdoor movie experience in your backyard!

These are just some of the many options you have for affordable fun on California’s Central Coast. What is your favorite fall activity? Leave a comment below and let us know!
