Paso Robles wine country has no shortage of events. These are great opportunities for locals and visitors alike to sample numerous wines from the region, meet local winemakers in person, and socialize with other wine enthusiasts in the area. As your Central Coast real estate agent, allow me to fill you in on the next beloved wine event coming up, BlendFest on the Coast.
The 4th annual event will bring 30 renowned wineries of Paso Robles to the coast! Each winery will showcase three distinct blends. BlendFest is all about showing off the rule-breaking, unconventional wines from this wine hub of the world.
BlendFest encompasses three days, with a Winemaker Dinner on Friday, Feb. 9, the Grand Tasting on Feb. 10, and a Blending Seminar on Feb. 11. Here are details on all three:
Grand Tasting – This is the main event that takes place on Saturday, Feb. 10, located behind the gates of the Hearst Property in Old San Simeon Village. A portion of the proceeds will benefit those affected by the Southern California wildfires. Choose from the Afternoon Session from 1 to 3 p.m., with $45 admission, or the Sunset Session from $4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with $65 admission. The afternoon session will include Central Coast Creamer cheese. The sunset session will as well, along with passed hors d’oeuvres. These include grilled portobello crostinis, fish tacos, duck confit sliders and much more.
Winemaker Dinner – This event kicks off the weekend on Friday, Feb. 9, at Indigo Moon in Cambria. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., enjoy a four-course meal with wine pairings from the winery of your choice. Cost is $100. Menu items include scallops on shaved Brussel sprouts, oven roasted quail, coffee rubbed short rib, chocolate truffle torte and more. Seating is reserved to only 56 people, so tickets must be purchased in advance.
Blending Seminar – On Sunday, Feb. 11, you can become a winemaker for a day! From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort in San Simeon, join winemakers for a fun blending seminar and lunch. First you will learn how to blend your very own wine, and then you can drink it while enjoying lunch. Price is $40.
